And Donegal gets to take a special bow as this year, this county on the Wild Atlantic Way boasts know less than 12 beaches and two marinas with Blue Flags. Go Donegal!

What The Blue Flag Means

The Blue Flag in an international award which is run in Ireland by An Taisce. It is given to beaches and marinas that have excellent water quality and maintain the highest safety standards (including having a lifeguard on duty during bathing season). Beaches that receive the award follow specific criteria related to water quality, information provision, environmental education, safety and site management.

Sixty Irish beaches were also recognised with Green Coast awards. This award recognises beaches with high environmental quality.
