Lauren Keogh’s studied agriculture and environmental science at university. Unlike her colleague Ciara, she wasn’t that interested in cows. The environmental part of the course, however, really did float her boat. For her thesis, she looked at the townland of Brittas Bay and examined the effects that tourism has had on it. She then completed work placements growing trees in a lab with Coillte, soil sampling with Teagasc and, best of all, gardening at the Botanic Gardens (Kilmacurragh) with the OPW. Who wouldn’t enjoy lots of satisfying green-fingered work and outdoor yoga?! After a brief stint working in a bank, Lauren joined Sustainable Travel Ireland where her business card gives her the title of ‘General Manager’s Manager’. And it’s for good reason!
Lauren might be the youngest member of the team but she’s extremely organised and puts manners on us all. She’s a woman who gets things done. Lauren has completed the Sustainable Tourism Training Programme with the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC).
