The Sustainable Tourism Network comprises of a dedicated team of accomplished professionals specialising in diverse fields, including Responsible Tourism Management, Physics, Astronomy and Space Science, Organic Horticulture and Permaculture, Agricultural and Environmental sciences, Climate Resilience for Business, Ecological Management and Conservation Biology, and Sustainable Business Leadership.

All team members have successfully completed the GSTC Sustainable Tourism Training Programme.

Rob Rankin

Managing Director

Rob is the managing director of The Sustainable Tourism Network and also the founder and owner of Vagabond tours – Ireland’s leading small group tour operator and one of most respected brands in Irish tourism. The company has achieved many firsts in Irish tourism, in terms of innovation, product development and marketing. Rob is a graduate of Cambridge University Institute for Sustainable Leadership’s excellence course in Sustainable Business Leadership.

Lauren Keogh

General Manager

Lauren has over 7 years experience in management, business and product development, creating policies, and communicating business goals. Lauren holds a degree in Agricultural and Environmental sciences from University College Dublin, and received certification in Climate Resilience for Business from Galway-Mayo Institute of technology, and the Global Sustainable Tourism Council’s Sustainable Tourism Training Programme.

Aoibheann Boyle

Business Development Executive

Aoibheann started her tourism career with us as an intern in 2021 after completing a MSc in Tourism Management at TU Dublin where she received a 1.1 in her dissertation on responsible tourist behaviour. She is an accredited Leave No Trace trainer with a QQI certificate in Training Delivery and Evaluation and has completed the Sustainable Tourism Training Programme with the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC). Her previous roles have had a focus on sustainable, regenerative and collaborative approaches to tourism development and management. With a love for community and the environment, Aoibheann can be seen regularly at community environmental initiatives and is a frequent volunteer with the native Irish woodland charity Hometree.

Can be frequently heard saying a new catchphrase internally when things are going to plan – “we’re suckin’ green hydrogen now!”

Imke Range

Lead Trainer

Imke Range is a sustainable tourism professional with over 10 years of international experience. She holds an MSc with distinction in Responsible Tourism Management from Leeds Beckett University and a Bachelors in Regional Development and Innovations from VHL/Wageningen University in the Netherlands. Her resume includes working for the Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Tourism in New Zealand, and she was involved with several sustainable tourism start-ups. In addition, Imke managed an award-winning luxury eco-lodge in Australia, worked on the development of an eco-tourism project in Dubai and conducted training and research in rural communities in Cyprus, the Netherlands, Kenya, and the Philippines.

Rebecca Toomey

Sustainability Executive

Rebecca has 4 years experience in health and safety, GIS technology, conservation, environmental compliance and environmental monitoring. Rebecca holds a BSc in Environmental Science from the University of Limerick. Rebecca also holds a MSc in Ecological Management and Conservation Biology from Queen’s University Belfast. She also completed a study abroad in Iceland where she studied Renewable Energy and Sustainability at the Iceland School of Energy at Reykjavik University.

Roisin Finlay

Marketing and Communications

Roisin Finlay joined the Sustainable Travel Ireland team from running Outsider magazine for the last 15 years. As editor of Ireland’s leading outdoor and adventure publication, she was the jammy one with a ‘job’ that meant lots of outdoor fun, travel, activity and writing. In an era defined by the climate change emergency, Roisin now wants to use her considerable energy and experience to help the travel industry transition to a sustainable future.

Roisin holds the Profession Certificate in Sustainable Tourism from the Global Sustainable Tourism Council, a BA in French and English from University College Dublin and an MA in European Integration from the University of Limerick. She is also currently waiting to graduate from Munster Technological University’s Certificate in Nature Animation, which examines the space where tourism/recreation and nature/biodiversity intersect, and how we can and must do better to conserve our precious wild places.

Ciara Quinn

Tech and Admin Executive

Ciara studied Physics with Astronomy and Space Science at UCD and trained in Organic Horticulture and Permaculture at An tIonad Glas. Fluent in Spanish, she has lived abroad in Spain for over 5 years and understands the importance of promoting responsible and sustainable travel. Ciara has also completed the Sustainable Tourism Training Programme with the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC).
